The 3 P's of Lasting Success

Author : Momodou Sabally
The great achievements of the highly successful men and women do
not just happen by chance. All those who have achieved nobly and
maintained their victories over long periods of time have had
foundations upon which such miraculous achievements were rooted.
Make no mistakes into thinking that they had some magic short
cuts or some special benevolence bestowed on them and them
alone. Yes God helps people to succeed in life and all truly
successful people would not hesitate in acknowledging divine
guidance and assistance. Yet it is common wisdom that "God helps
those who help themselves".Here are 3 powerful keys to enduring success. These are the
success secrets of the great emperors of old like Napoleon and
our modern stars like NBA revelation Dwayne Wade:1. PurityPurity, says Henry David Thoreau, is the flowering of man, and
what are called genius, heroism and the like are nothing but the
fruits that succeed it. Strive to keep your thoughts and your
actions pure. Do not go close to the 'forbidden fruit whatever
it is. This magnificent universe works so perfectly to our great
advantage because it operates in accordance with laws of God. In
the same vein, for any person to succeed, she must learn to
observe the laws of nature and conduct herself in tune with
those very same laws. The great emperor Napoleon was quoted as
saying that one of the reasons why he was able to hold sway over
men much his senior in age was the fact that he conducted
himself in a way and manner that was superior in terms of
purity. It was James Allen who wrote this great statement of wisdom in
his best selling book "As A Man Thinketh": There can be no
progress, no achievement without sacrifice, and a man's worldly
success will be in the measure that he sacrifices his confused
animal thoughts, and fixes his mind on the development of his
plans, and the strengthening of his resolution and
self-reliance. And the higher he lifts his thoughts, the more
manly, upright, and righteous he becomes, the greater will be
his success, the more blessed and enduring will be his
achievements2. PrayerNo man is strong or wise enough to go along in the daily
vicissitudes of life and make great accomplishments without
divine assistance. It does not matter whether the man who
succeeds admits or gives thanks for this or not; his very
sustenance in this world is a blessing of God. Therefore it is
imperative that we pray for success in all that we do. Pray
about your goals so that they will turn out to be right for you
and for those whom your goals will affect and also pray for the
fulfillment of your dreams. Do not rely on your own wisdom and
power in trying to achieve in any calling. Develop and maintain
the habit of giving thanks for all your blessings. I have
watched Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade thank God for victory after
victory in his NBA career. God will increase his blessings on
you if you are grateful. In prayer lie all the solutions of our problems and all the
magic elixir to the attainment of our lofty goals no matter how
grand they may appear to our human eyes. In the words of Dr.
Norman Vincent Peale "and do not forget prayer, it releases
power"3. PersistenceThe third P is persistence and it is the indispensable quality
of success. Everyone who attains great heights in his profession
has had to face some form of temporary defeat. This serves as
some form of test for all great achievers in life. Yet it is at
such junctures that as Earl Nightingale puts it "the men are
separated from the boys". Go ahead in pursuit of your goals and
do not be dismayed by setbacks, they should strengthen your
resolve to push on in spite of the odds. You have to move with
faith, courage and determined effort in pursuit of your lofty
goals. The great thing about persistence is that it is
underpinned by the mother of all success secrets, FAITH. If you
do not have faith, you will not persist in anything.Take the case of NBA star Dwayne Wade as an example. Dwayne Wade
was hospitalized on the very day of the 2006 NBA Eastern
Conference Finals, being sick with flu. Sports Illustrated
reports that Wade spent "half-time and the first three minutes
of the second half tethered to an IV".However, this obstacle will not stop the young dynamic star from
doing his best; he was described as dehydrated earlier that day
but whilst I (and some match commentators) were wondering
whether Wade would be effective in the game or even play to the
end, he was WHITE HOT with energy and he persisted to the very
end, scoring of "10 points in less than 9 minutes".Sports illustrated craftily described Dwayne Wade's rise against
his obstacle this way: sniffling and sweating as he took the
court, he conjured in the assembled, white-garbed masses
romantic visions of Michael Jordan and his flu-racked 38-point
performance in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals. Now that you have the 3 P's of Lasting Success, make them a part of your
daily habit. These are not the only qualities or habits you need
for enduring success yet I can tell you with confidence that
"seek ye first the 3 P's of Lasting Success and the rest would be added
onto you".God bless your work.
