Creating Sacred Space

Author : Suzanne Roloff
Sacred Space can be inside of you, that place where you go to receive insight or answers or to meditate. It can also be a physical place in your home, office, yard, or anywhere you wish to create a sacred place. There are sacred places throughout the world, such as in Sedona Arizona, Stone hedge, The Great Pyramids, etc. When creating a sacred space in your environment, you are consciously sending out to the universe an intention to connect spiritually with a space you are creating that has special meaning to you. Creating this sacred space can be helpful to you in many ways. It can help you to be focused, organized, expand your intentions, and help you to heal. When working with sacred space, you begin to open up and experience more clarity and joy in your life and raise your vibration. You are open to the divine intelligence and light of the universe which creates helpful and healthy synchronicities, and a flow which makes your life have purpose and meaning. Things begin to click; small and large miracles begin to happen in your life daily. You can sense when energies are not good or things seem out of balance and are not flowing. This is a clear message to go within to your sacred space you have created and listen to the message Spirit has to tell you. You become more in tune to yourself, other people in your life, and the environment around you. When creating sacred space in our home, work environment, yard, etc., we are respecting the energy in each of these places and attuning it to our spiritual path and life. When we are surrounded by the sacred spaces we have made, everything in life is made easier and we are constantly reminded and surrounded by our intensions and beliefs which keep us focused on our goal and purpose in life. The sacred spaces you have created become a part of you and your daily routine and expand your energetic field. To create your sacred space, think of the things that have meaning to you in your life and pick a place to start to create your sacred space to release the spiritual energy inside of you. I have a sacred space in my yard. Actually I consider my whole back yard a sacred space of its own, and it is no wonder I always feel it is a blessing to be able to spend time there. I have a place to sit, this could be elaborate or simply a small table and chair. I have a table in the middle of a patio we made and on it I created a crystal mandala. In
the center I have a large rose quartz. Surrounding the mandala I have different grounding stones to hold the energy in the mandala and also different earth stones. Because this is kept outside for most of the year, they are stones that can withstand the weather and sun. They are natural stones that I have found or that were given to me from around where I live and also from different places I have visited. Some are quartz, granite, agate, and others. I have also collected different colors and pieces of colored glass in the shape of stones that are part of the mandala. It is a very powerful energy and because it is outside in nature I think it is even more powerful.I have a birdbath close to the chair and table and also surrounding this space are my favorite plants, flowers, herbs, and roses I have planted nearby. I also have a small chiminea I can use for a fire in the cooler months. I love this place in nature and consider it to be very sacred. I have some angel statues and hummingbird feeders close by to this space, too. I often read or meditate in this environment and it is always a blessing. You could also create a sacred space inside and create an altar or shrine making it elaborate or quite simple, whichever you prefer. You can do this by collecting a group of objects that have special meaning to you, such as stones or crystals, pictures, candles, feathers, flowers, statues, special gifts from people or places, etc. It is common to have a personal altar or healing altar as part of your sacred space, or a sacred space you have set aside for healing or meditating in your home.Sacred space, and altars can have many different intentions and purposes and goals. They can be public, private, or have a single focus or a general purpose. Your sacred space can represent different parts of you and your life, too, and have several meanings and purposes in one. The important thing is to create this sacred space so you are surrounding by it every day and can feel its energy and healing in your life. You will be blessed by the energy of your sacred space every day. It is a sacred part of who you are and who you are becoming, day by day.By Suzanne RoloffSuzanne Roloff is a Reiki Master and Chios Master Teacher.
