ChangesThere is a saying that goes, "the only thing constant is change" and it is evident in everything we do. Many people lead very organized lives and are able to stay on top of papers and clutter until something happens in their lives and throws them for a loop. Perhaps it's a death in the family, a divorce, a new baby, or a new job. Whatever the change may be, it alters their course and they are often unable to rally. It is this inability to move ahead that begins the piles of papers on the desk or kitchen counter, the closets that can't be opened because of the stuff in them, and beds we are no longer able to sleep in due to all of the items on top.Take a Look at Your LifeOur charge to you is to take a deep breath, and then look hard at your life. What are your goals personally and for your family? "There just isn't enough time in the day," is something we hear a lot. Why? Is it because you are over committed? Is it because you haven't evaluated your priorities? Is saying 'no' too difficult or painful? A lot of "stay at home" parents complain about being overwhelmed. The solution may be in re-evaluating priorities. These people are staying home to be with their kids. Not to be on every committee the school has or to be viewed as a super-mom/dad. Sort It Out, Inc. empathizes completely with "stay at home" parents and know what a difficult career it is.Working ParentsSort It Out takes our hats off to working parents. They have such a daily challenge in juggling their families and careers. Their jobs take up a large portion of their day, leaving little time for themselves or their families. Working parents particularly need to make sure that they are aware of their personal and family goals so that they do not get sidetracked with things that may not be a priority. Their time is just too valuable to waste.Baby StepsOften very small changes in your life can make huge differences. One example may be to turn off the TV in the evening so that you can finish your work or read some articles that you've been putting off and they are piling up on your nightstand. Another change may be to begin waking up earlier in the morning so that you can fit your exercise in or read the Wall Street Journal that you never seem to make time for. Sort It Out, Inc. is interested in not only helping you organize the physical clutter in your life, but also the mental clutter. Figure it out for yourself, and then breathe.2005 All Rights ReservedClaire Keeling and her partner Lori Bickel are the co-owners of Sort It Out, Inc.
