Finding Cheap Car Transport Services

Author : Thomas Morva
If you are moving a standard passenger car and want to investigate different car transport trailer options there are many possibilities in today's auto shipping industry offered to the discerning customer. Open multi-car transport is the most economical and popular option for moving unrestored collector vehicles or everyday cars.In most situations, your car will be conveyed on an eight or 10-car carrier, the same kind of trucks used to deliver new cars. These trucks are 75 to 80 feet long and about 13 feet high. They can be difficult to maneuver and are limited to major roads that are free of low hanging trees and low clearance bridges. Make sure you are aware of this fact when directing the truck to the pick-up location or to your home. When a transporter mentions pick up window they are referring to the time surrounding your pick up date. For instance some shippers may have a 14 day window - that way they can pick your vehicle up anywhere between seven days before and seven days after your pick up date. Lower priced carriers will not specify their pick up dates, you however may receive an outstanding price. The down side is that you may not see your vehicle for four or five weeks.Make sure that the cheap car transport company you choose shows proof of their federal license and insurance requirements. There are many transport companies who do not carry the federal license, bond, or insurance requirements, and will move your car for a low fee, but this leaves you unprotected against theft and damage. When you are shopping around for an inexpensive car transport service confirm what the total cost of the shipping will be right up front, this will help identify any hidden costs that may arise during the transport, like a fuel surcharge or extra road insurance. As you obtain quotes from several car transport and auto shipping companies, be prepared to provide: origin of pick-up destination, departure date, size and type of cars, type of car transport service you need like door-to-door car transport as opposed to terminal-to-terminal.Terminal-to-terminal is almost always cheaper. Special car mover or auto shipping requests will usually incur additional costs. If your vehicle is not delivered within the agreed upon dates some cheaper auto transport companies will reimburse you some amount of cash per day towards the rental of an automobile, keep your receipts. With today's multitude of competing car transport businesses, your chances for finding cheap car transport services are excellent, you can be assured that your search for the best inexpensive car transport service will not go unrewarded.Car Transport Info provides detailed information about car transport services and trailers, as well as advice on locating an cheap, domestic and international car transport company for your standard, classic, or exotic car. Car Insurance Adjuster

Author : Michael Lastun
A car insurance adjuster is employed to investigate claims, and work with you, the client, to make sure that the claim is settled with respect to the policies and procedures agreed between you and your insurance company at the time you took out the policy. It is to be hoped that the insurance agent and adjuster are not the same person, to avoid conflict of interest in settling the claim.Becoming an independent car insurance adjuster can lead to a fulfilling job – taking the time to read through insurance claims, looking over the vehicle to asses damage, or liaising between the assessor, client and insurer to make sure that everybody gets the best deal within the rules of the policy. You need to have a tough skin, however, since clients can sometimes become a little exasperated when the claim does not go their way.At the end of the day, the car insurance adjuster is there to make sure that everyone plays by the rules, so integrity is also a must have quality. There are people who will try to play the system and make claims which are fraudulent or just over stated. On the other hand, there will always be insurance agents that try to get out of paying a claim because it will probably have an effect on their end of year bonus. All in all, the adjuster has to be friendly to everyone, but not give any preferential treatment, and be completely immune to stress. The job may sound straightforward enough, but it can become very complex when multiple parties are involved and is sure to offer a good level of intellectual stimulation. If you find this information useful you should visit the site http://www.marketing-insurance-leads.org where you will find lots of interesting articles related to this topic, all original and wrote by Michael Lastun.

New Headlight Energy Saver Needed

Author : Lance Winslow
We all know how bumpy the roads are in the United States, sure we have a 287 Billion Dollar Highway Bill, but they are already considering making an amendment to that. You see Hurricane Katrina and Rita may end up re-directing monies to fix roads and infrastructure there rather than the projects that were allotted. I propose that we use the bumpy roads in the United States to power up the headlights of over the road trucks, this will help in fuel economy.Diesel fuel has seen sharp increases, in the last few years in our nation and it is costs our economy billions. Everything we buy comes by truck and that means the increased cost of fuel acts like an additional tax on these items. The bumps in the road can power up the headlights using electromagnetic induction technology to charge a capacitor instead of the headlights working off a battery. Currently there are some nifty micro-flashlights being used which you can buy which use a similar technique and are available thanks to the Everlight Flashlight technology research lab. These smaller flashlights work by shaking them for about thirty seconds and shine for about 6 minutes and they shine quite bright since they use a very bright LED light. Here is a link to this home use flashlight:http://www.modernoutpost.com/gear/details/ee_shakelight.htmlHere is a quick movie you can watch online to see how this technology works.http://www.modernoutpost.com/gear/movies/ee_forever.MPGI propose we use the engine rumble to light the truck interior lights and truck lights. Generally you have to wait thirty seconds for the engine's oil pressure to come up and the airbrakes to come up to pressure anyway. This does not mean that the headlights would not be hooked up to a battery, only that you would not be asking for any juice, thus the alternator does not have as much drag on the engine and saves fuel consumption. Once the engine comes up to oil pressure the truck can then drive and each bump in the road keeps the lights running. If they get too dim from too smooth of a road, yah, we wish, then the system would revert back to the battery. Perhaps this is a good way to save fuel? Auto Insurance Quote and Auto Insurance Quotes

Author : Christian N
Auto insurance quotes are a free service offered by insurance agencies to consumers who are in the market for new insurance. When you call an agency to obtain an auto insurance quote, you will be asked the driving record of the primary driver, the age of the vehicle, how many miles the vehicle is driven to and from work, and the amount of coverage you would like on the vehicle. An auto insurance quote only takes a few moments. There are some interesting facts about the pricing of auto insurance quotes. If you would like an auto insurance quote, and your current insurance carrier has dropped you, the amount of your quote will be dramatically increased. If you want to insure an underage driver, your auto insurance quote will increase.Obviously, the amount of coverage of the vehicle impacts the price of auto insurance quotes. Collision is almost always the most costly part of insurance, but in most cases it is a requirement, and even if it is not required, it is a wise investment. The price of auto insurance quotes change from state to state, as there are different coverage requirements in each state. There is also an increased likelihood of accidents in certain parts of the country, so if you are trying to get an auto insurance quote for vehicles registered in one of these high-risk parts of the country, the price of your quote will be high.Auto insurance quotes can be accessed for free not only from an insurance agent over the phone, but also online. There is no obligation to purchase insurance if you get a free auto insurance quote online, so this service may be more convenient for you than calling an agent. You can use the online auto insurance quote two ways: you can check the rates of your current insurance against other insurers rates, or you can change the amount of your coverage and see how that changes the cost of your insurance. Auto insurance quotes can be found on the websites of insurers or on the websites of underwriters where one company is allowed to provide auto insurance quotes for more than one insurer. Research is always good, so if you are looking for an auto insurance quote, check out the free auto insurance quotes online before calling a local agent. This way you can be more informed of all the options when you speak to him. "And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven." Carwash Tanks of Nano Tube Construction

Author : Lance Winslow
Carwashes have lots of tanks both above ground and buried in the ground. If these tanks could be transparent the operators would not need as many expensive sonar or electronic eye sensors for their storage tanks. The problem with a complex set of sensors and computer system is the Murphy Factor, the more complicated the system is the more that can and will go wrong. There are endless applications for carbon nano tubes due to their strength and abilities to conduct electricity. In fact due to their lightweight, strength, transparency and ability to hold a charge the uses are truly endless indeed. One excellent use for transparent carbon nano tubes would be to make these tanks at carwashes out of them. In fact it might also be smart to make the tunnel of the car wash transparent so people can watch their cars being washed and feel more comfortable, as it is interesting when you separate people from something, even a car, so close them, they worry. Indeed, kids also like to watch the cars being washed and this would provide them with that opportunity. At night for safety and security, once the security system was set the current running thru the carbon nano tube construction would turn the carwash opaque until you turned it off in the morning. I bet we will see a future bright with carbon nano tubes in the carwash industry by 2020. Think on this.Lance Winslow - Online Think Tank forum board. Best Advice and Tips to Be Used when Parking

Author : Ispas Marin
You are a driver so you know that incidents may happen not just on the road, but also in parking lots. Most of the incidents caused by violent drivers are taking place in suburban parking lots. In order to avoid getting caught in a violent parking lot incident, you should keep in mind some tips:- Use common courtesy in your actions to prevent behaviour that may disturb other drivers.- Retain yourself from acting aggressively towards other drivers by controlling your stress level.- Stay calm and keep your cool whenever you are involved in a parking incident. Always take into consideration the possible outcome of your behaviour.- Try to let pedestrians cross the street in front of your car as often as possible. Remember that you are sitting comfortable in your car while they may be walking in snow, rain or hot sun. According to parking services regulations, pedestrians are always having the right of way. And always be careful at small children. They can jump in front of your car at any moment.- Signal whenever you want to turn, even if you are driving slowly. Driving in a parking lot doesn't mean you have to ignore driving regulations.- Occupy only one parking space.- Respect parking services requirements and don't use a parking space for a disabled person if you are not disabled. Common sense should also stop you from acting in this manner.- Most parking lots have drop-off zones and no-standing areas. Don't park in these places as you will be causing activity blockage in that area.- Don't steal other drivers' parking spaces. This action is the cause of the majority of aggressive incidents that occur in parking lots.- Try not to use any obscene gestures as they will definitely offend other drivers. Try not to keep in mind that the other drivers might misinterpret your gestures, so don't use any irritating moves.- Don't use your car phone while parking your car. A parking services statistics stated that fender-benders caused by drivers talking on the phone while parking their cars is the second most common cause for violent incidents.- Avoid eye contact as much as possible if another driver is looking for a fight. Get out of there ignoring his/her aggressive behaviour. If the violent driver is following you, go to the nearest police station to let the officers know what is happening.- And always remember that if everyone would be using their common sense, there won't be so many violent incidents in parking lots. Fuel Flu Epidemic Sweeping the Globe

Author : Dee Scrip
Ravaging the globe in biblical proportions is the Fuel Flu epidemic. Early signs include depleted budgets, indecision whether to drive or eat for the day, incessant complaining, and fear of the future.Transport industries such as trucking, shipping, etc., found a temporary solution to the Fuel Flu – pass the rising fuel costs down to us consumers of such necessities as food, clothing and shelter.Government response is to lift current requirements on fuel, so lower grade fuel can be released. Hmmm….let me think here – lower grade fuel results in further Fuel Flu complications such as dirtier engines which ultimately create an even greater need for more fuel and maintenance in order to function at all. That remedy looks like a "Catch 22" for sure!Intensifying Fuel Flu complications occurs when consumers opt to forego basic maintenance like having the oil changed regularly, replacing spark plugs, keeping the engine tuned, or properly inflating tires for 50¢ (every penny counts!).STOP!!! Take a deep breath. Listen! You are not helpless when it comes to the Fuel Flu epidemic. You don't have to sell your firstborn in order to purchase a tank of fuel. You can be proactive simply by immunizing your truck, car, etc.Let's take a closer look at why we need to immunize against Fuel Flu in the first place. All fuel, regardless of gas, bio-diesel, or diesel fuel, contains sulfur and water. Sulfur and water when combined form sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid damages your engine and when not burned off, leaves behind carbon deposits that attach to vital organs inside the engine, e.g., spark plugs, fuel injectors, valves, etc. They can even be forced into your oil.Carbon deposits in your engine create a sluggish response, increased toxic emissions and less miles per gallon. So, the primary focus to immunize against Fuel Flu should be on how to eliminate and prevent carbon deposits from forming. Now, don't go running out and frantically buying "spot" treatments such as fuel injector cleaners, new spark plugs, or fuel conditioners -- that may even clog your engine further -- in a futile effort to immunize your vehicle. Let's seek advice of a trusted expert, the Fuel Doctor. The Fuel Doctor highly recommends a simple solution to immunize against the Fuel Flu. One small pill combines all individual treatments, covers all engine sizes, and can be used with gas, bio-diesel, and diesel fuel. This small pill, the size of a penny, known as the UBiee PowerPill, will eliminate and prevent carbon deposits from forming in your engine. Just by simply popping a pill in your tank every time you fill up at the pump, you will experience increased fuel savings, decreased toxic emissions, decreased maintenance needs, and faster response, thus complete immunization against the Fuel Flu.Dee Scrip is a well known and respected published expert author of numerous articles on PowerPill Fe-3, Home Business, Business Opportunities, Fundraising, VoIP, VoIP Security, and other related VoIP issues.

5 Tips to Buying BMW Auto Parts

Author : Dan Ford
If you are looking for parts for your BMW M3, X5 or Z4, you want the best. Whether you are needing to replace the brakes, hoses, lights or even the tell tale emblem you need to know where to look for factory direct parts at affordable prices.1- The best place to find any type of part for your BMW is, of course through a BMW dealer. Drag Racing - The Perfect Launch

Author : Brooks Weisblat
Drag racing, a contest between two cars beginning from a complete stop over a
distance of a 1/4 mile (1,320 feet) depends heavily on first 60 feet of the race, or
the launch. The technique used for launching varies greatly depending on the how
the car is equipped. The type of transmission, which wheels are being driven, tires,
power, suspension and track preparation all play key roles in how to go about
getting the best launch possible from the car.Improvements on the time it takes for the car to travel the first 60 feet down the
track have significant implications on the final ET (estimated time). As a general
rule, improvements in the 60 foot time, are magnified by 2x on your final ET. For
example, a Dodge Viper GTS that runs a 12.2 @ 120 MPH in the 1/4 mile with a 60
foot time of 2.0 can make significant improvements to it's 1/4 mile times by
obtaining a better launch. If the Dodge Viper GTS is able cut .2 (two tenths) of a
second off it it's 60 foot time, by covering the first 60 feet in 1.8 seconds, it's final
ET for the 1/4 mile would be around 11.8 @ 119 – 121MPH. More examples can be
found by searching through the thousands of 60 foot records in the http://www.dragtimes.com/ drag racing
database. The best possible launch is obtained by obtaining the optimal balance of applying
the most amount of power to the ground with the least amount of wheel spin. If too
much power is applied during the launch and the tires spin, the resulting 60 foot
time will be poor. The same goes for not applying enough power, thereby causing
the car's engine to bog, and having the car limp off the line slowly. When launching a car with an automatic transmission, a technique called power
braking is used. After properly staging the car at the drag strip's staging lane,
tightly hold down the brake with one foot, while slowly applying the accelerator
peddle with the other foot. The car's engine RPM (revolutions per minute) should
slowly increase to a point where the car will either start to move or start spinning
the tires. Hold down both the brake and accelerator peddles just below the point
where the car is starting to move or spinning the tires. When the christmas tree
lights reach the last amber light before the green, lift off of the brake and slowly
push the gas peddle all the way down. The correct RPM to launch at will be different
every car depending on all of the variables mentioned earlier. Start conservative
with the first launch and keep increasing the RPM at which the car is launched at
during the subsequent runs. If the car starts spinning the tires after the launch,
lower the launch RPM and try again. When launching a car with a manual transmission come to a complete stop after the
car is properly staged. Press the clutch in all the way with one foot while pressing
the accelerator peddle down with the other foot, raising the engine RPM to a
constant moderate level for the first launch. Lift up on the clutch peddle to the
point where the car is just about to start moving and hold both peddles still. When
the christmas tree lights reach the last amber before the green, slowly release the
clutch while quickly applying the accelerator peddle enough to launch the car
quickly, but not too much to induce a large amount of wheel spin. Start
conservative with the first launch and keep increasing the RPM at which the car is
launched at during the subsequent runs. If the car starts spinning the tires too
much after the launch, lower the launch RPM and try again. To obtain better launches and bring down 60 foot times even more, the use of drag
radial or full slick tires can be used on more powerful cars that have trouble
launching at any RPM on regular street tires. Drag radials and full slicks usually
require a burnout to heat up the tires and clean them from debris for optimum
performance. A burnout is a rapid spinning of the car's tires while the car stays
relatively still. All wheel drive cars (AWD) are typically the easiest to launch because the engine's
power is distributed to 4 wheels instead of two. Rear wheel drive (RWD) cars
typically launch better than front wheel drive (FWD) due to the transfer of weight to
the rear tires during the launch, causing an increase in traction. If the car has
aftermarket adjustable suspension, adjustments can be made specific for drag
racing to increase the weight transfer to the driving wheels. The track's launch pad preparation also plays an important role in how well and how
hard cars can launch. The launch area is usually prepped with traction compounds
to add to the stickiness of the track. A well prepped track will definitely help drop
60 foot times and result in lower 1/4 mile times.During the breaks and cool down periods between drag racing runs, make detailed
notes about how you launched on the back of each timeslip. These notes can help
you diagnose launching issues, fine-tune subsequent launches and show
improvements in the search for The Perfect Launch.Brooks Weisblat is drag racing/sports car enthusiast and owner of DragTimes.com,

database of 1/4
mile times for cars and motorcycles. To view thousands of 1/4 mile timeslips

How to Avoid a Bicycle Accident

Author : Sophie Evans
Cyclists are amongst the most vulnerable road users. A combination of factors means that cyclists are exposed to dangers that most motorists don't even have to consider. For example being less visible to drivers and being completely without the protection of a tonne of metal means that your average cyclist is pretty likely to be badly injured if they come head to head with a car. In fact there were 114 cyclists killed in 2003 and 2,297 seriously injured. Although a cyclist has the advantage of being able to stop quickly if they encounter an obstacle a car driver is less likely to see a bike until the last minute. The first and most obvious safety pointer that applies to everybody who takes to the road on a push bike is to wear a helmet. Cycle helmets are only designed and tested to withstand an impact equivalent to an average weight rider travelling at a speed of 12 mph falling on to a kerb from a height of 1 metre. Because of this riders shouldn't become complacent and rely on their helmet to save their life in an accident. The best way to avoid serious personal injury is to try and avoid being hit by a car in the first place.Secondly, you should wear reflective clothing and always use front and rear lights if riding at night or if the light is impaired in any way. Another useful safety device is the mirror. This can help you to judge the traffic from every angle. Many bike accidents occur when the car behind you clips your rear wheel. This is not as serious as an accident from the front or from the side, but can still knock you off and cause serious injury. By looking in a mirror from time to time you can assess any potential dangers. Basically if you are prepared to ride on the roads you should take the measures to protect yourself. Motorists can't always see you and unfortunately for much of the time haven't learnt to look out for cyclists. Everyone has a right to be on the road so protect your self as much as you can.Common accidents and how to avoid themYou are more likely to be seriously injured in a collision with a car than in a bike only accident. There are one or two car versus bike accident types that are fairly common and that with a bit of foresight can be avoided. They are shown below with some tips for avoiding a deadly collision. If a car pulls out of side road to your right•You will either cycle into the side of the car or it will drive into the side of you. If you're riding at night the motorist may not have spotted you at all so you should have a white light on the front of your bike that they are more likely to be able to spot•Secondly you could consider shouting at the driver as you approach the vehicle; although bells are now mandatory on bikes again you may not be heard just by tinkling a bell. You should also consider slowing right down. You may want to get to your destination in a hurry but by slowing down just a little you can potentially avoid an accident•The final way to avoid an accident of this kind is to ride closer to the centre of your lane. The car driver will be looking down the centre of the lane for other cars not along the kerb for cyclists. You can also pull further away from the car if it doesn't notice you and pulls out. Obviously when you are on a busy road with few side roads it is safer to stay nearer to the kerb but on a slow road with lots of junctions, stay slightly to the leftA car door suddenly opensIf this happens you won't have very long to stop, so the best option is to ride closer to the middle when you are riding down a road with lots of parked cars. Again if the road is fast and narrow avoid this, but judge the road you are on and ride accordingly.A car passes you and then turns left directly in front of you•Don't ride on the pavement as motorists won't be looking out for you when they turn into a side road•Take up more of the road. If a motorist has to sit behind you until the road is clear to overtake then they are unlikely to cut across you. Judge the road and give yourself space•Check in your mirror as you approach a junction. Once you arrive at the turning you will have to be paying attention to what is going on around youA car coming towards you makes a right turn right in front of you or into you•Don't overtake slow moving cars on the right as cars turning right will not be able to see you•Wear bright clothing so that drivers can see you. Yellow and orange vests will make it impossible to miss you•Ride slowly. Again, you will be able to stop more easily if you are riding slowly in the first place. Whilst it may be a pain you will be grateful if a car does cut you upCheck your bikeIt pays to check your bike over before you even get on it. Every time you take it out you should give it the once over to see that the tyres are pumped up and the brakes are working.•Pat the tyres to check they are tight in the frame•Squeeze the tyres to check that they are properly inflated•Put the bike on the ground and apply the brakes, check that the brake pads bear evenly on the rim, push the bike forward to see if the brakes work•Check all the levers on the handle bar are correctly fitted•Grasp the saddle and ensure that it is correctly fitted with no side to side movements•Make sure you have lights that work so that you are safe on the road in the darkPersonal injury compensationCycling should be an enjoyable and healthy pastime. It can save you money on fuel and is environmentally friendly. The only drawback is the risk of being involved in an accident. Sadly this does happen and many people are left with serious injuries. If you are unfortunate enough to be involved in a car accident or cycling accident or motorcycle accident then you may be entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim. What Does a Car Safety Rating Reveal?

Author : Matthew Henderson
Access the car safety rating information online about any car or truck that you intend to purchase. This information is collected in an Australian database, is the result of a multitude of car or truck accidents over time, and how a variety of vehicles performed in accidents. The Basis for Car Safety RatingsThe car safety ratings are based on two sets of criteria: crash worthiness and aggressivity. Crashworthiness refers to the degree of protection provided to the passengers in the event of an accident. These factors include safety features such as auto design, safety belts, airbags, and interior padding.Aggressivity is the level of expected damage a vehicle can inflict on another vehicle in the event of an accident. These factors include weight, body rigidity, and body dimensions. These two factors together form the basis for a car safety rating and will inform the consumer if a particular type of car or truck will withstand a crash, the extent of damage this vehicle will cause another, and the design measures taken to protect the passengers of the vehicle.Your Decision to PurchaseWhen today's consumer buys a car, he or she will most often buy a used car. Unquestionably, some cars are safer models than others. So, it is better to know the safety of a car prior to purchasing it rather than afterwards. With the vehicles identification number, you can go to web sites such as CARFAX and search for a particular car's safety rating in addition to the complete car backgrounds history. Let's examine the benefits of installing a performance exhaust system versus a stock exhaust system.1. More Power – One of the obvious benefits of a performance exhaust system is more power for your car. Using catalyst back [cat-back] technology, additional horsepower is freed up, with horsepower increases of 5%, 10%, and even 15% possible. Exactly how does a cat-back system work? By keeping all the key emissions components in place, a cat-back system brings in large width exhaust pipes and low restriction performance mufflers for your car resulting in a lowering of exhaust back pressure. One nice side benefit is the deeper, throatier pitch created by the exhaust system. Since your vehicle's engine is in essence an air pump, a cat-back system helps the engine to pump and flow air with less disruption.2. Better Fuel Economy - You will achieve better fuel economy as a performance exhaust system allows your engine to run more effectively, thus consuming less fuel.3. Long Lasting – Some performance exhaust systems are designed to outlast the life of your car. Depending on the system you acquire, you may be able to install a performance exhaust system that comes with a one million mile guarantee. How so? Because, the part is made of a certain grade of stainless steel, the same grade used to produce aircraft! You will pay more for the parts, but it can easily be the final exhaust system your vehicle will ever need.4. Better Resale Value – Better parts on your vehicle will mean that its value will hold up. Sport versions of many models command a premium price over standard models. With a Haynes or Chilton repair manual at your side, you can replace your exhaust system yourself and save plenty of money on parts and labor. By installing a performance exhaust system yourself, you likely will pay only slightly more for the system over a dealer installed stock system, thereby maximizing the gains you will realize in electing to go with the performance exhaust system over the stock exhaust system.Matt Keegan is an auto enthusiast and contributing writer for

Reduce Waste Oil by Switching to Extended-Drain Synthetics

Author : Travis Woods
There are more automobiles on the roads today than ever before, and this trend is obviously going to continue. Unfortunately, oil consumption is going to continue to increase by means of gasoline consumption, and motor oil consumption. Most Americans have been taught from previous generations to always change your oil every 3,000 miles to make your engine last longer. Granted this is partially true, the environment suffers tremendously from the disposal of all this waste oil. We've been in the auto-repair industry for quite some time, and very rarely see engine failures caused by 'old' oil. Some of our customers change their oil every 3,000 miles as recommended by their service manuals, but many of them wait until 5,000 miles or more, and use the cheapest oil they can buy. And yet, their engines still last over 150K miles without having failure due to old engine oil. This just goes to show that most factory engines can tolerate fairly extreme service conditions. For the most part, engine problems are usually caused by overheating, over-revving, lack of maintenance, and the usual lead-foot abuse. With today's high-quality synthetic motor oils, there is no reason or excuse to not be switching to longer drain-intervals. If everybody extended their drain-intervals by only 1,000 miles, the reduction of waste oil would be phenomenal. Our overall oil consumption in the US would decrease enough that it would draw national attention. Thankfully, Mobil 1 has recently introduced their own line of extended-drain synthetic oils, and I expect many more to follow suit in the very near future. This really adds credibility to AMSOIL's long-standing claims of extended drain-intervals, and is a huge step towards convincing people that longer drain-intervals are perfectly safe. Although the initial cost is relatively expensive, the savings obtained from increased gas mileage, less frequent oil changes, and reduction of waste oil are all extremely important reasons to switch to a premium quality extended-drain synthetic motor oil. In addition, synthetics provide far better engine protection, especially in temperature extremes, where most conventional oils break down and provide very little protection to bearings and other moving parts. Regardless of which brand you choose, be responsible, and extend your drain-intervals.Woods Bros. Racing is a certified AMSOIL Dealer with over 15 years of experience in the auto-repair industry. First Rate Fog Lights from Auto Parts Deal

Author : Sarah McBride
Low visibility is one of the many culprits in road accidents. If you have ever driven through dense precipitation such as rain, snow, sleet, or through fog, then you know the potential danger, especially when your vehicle is not equipped to face such conditions. When traveling through fog, it is necessary to drive cautiously and be alert. In foggy conditions, the level of danger escalates especially if the precipitation is quite thick and visibility is near zero. This is further heightened by the fact that headlights are generally of no good use since they will reflect off of the fog and create a phenomenon called "dispersion". This blurs the light and creates more visibility problems. Thus, fog lights are necessary when you frequently drive through a foggy area. Fog lights are generally non-standard lights that are installed on vehicles to ensure safety and visibility in foggy conditions. Fog lights are different from headlights because they are yellow in color instead of white. Apparently, white light which is composed of different wavelengths (colors) is likely to scatter off in the fog droplets.Meanwhile, if you illuminate using a single wavelength, for instance, yellow in fog lights, there is a better penetration of light with less dispersion. Another consideration is that our eyes are more sensitive to yellow and green light. Thus, fog lights are required for foggy conditions and are a necessity in vehicles which regularly traverse through foggy areas especially at night or at early morning. To increase visibility and minimize the danger in foggy situations, fog lights are a must-have. A cautious driver would want to ensure his safety as well as that of his vehicle and its occupants. Installing fog lights in a vehicle will ensure that you can sufficiently see and be seen to avoid any mishap on the road. Fog lights are readily accessible in the auto parts market. They come in different varieties and are usually located at the front and at the rear.Purchasing fog lights for your car is an excellent investment. It will not only assure safety and visibility in foggy and low visibility situations, it will also impart a fresher look to your vehicle. As a manager of one of the largest auto store in Springfield,Massachussets, Sarah has extensive expertise on auto parts and automotives in general. Neon Car lights-What They are and How They Can Set Your Ride Apart From the Rest

Author : Antonio T Gabellone
Have you ever seen those car's with neon car lights on them around your local area at night and wondered what that was you just seen? Or maybe rather, how is it that those neon under car lights can look so cool and strobe through so many colors like that?Just incase you don't know about neon & LED car lights, they are specially designed LED & neon tubes that can mount under your vehicle, inside your car, inside and under your SUV or truck, on your boat and even on your motorcycle. Thousands of people from all walks of life are installing these neon lights in un-imaginable amount of ways to highlight the best features of their vehicle to set their ride apart from the rest.By now you might be asking yourself, What can neon car lights do for me that my normal head lights can't already do?Well, for some people, a car is a means of transport and nothing more. As long as their vehicle gets them from point A to point B and back again, has nice comfortable seats, a good sound system and a coffee mug holder, it serves all of its purposes well. And of course there are other drivers for which a car is much, much more - an extension of their personality and an object of their fixation. In this huge world of automotive accessories, there is no product that screams any louder than the neon under car lights. If you consider cruising in your car is among your favorite hobbies and you relish the stares of pedestrians and fellow-motorists, then a custom under car light kit may be for you.Ever wondered how long neon car lights have been around? Well, Hot Rods were the first cars to have under car lighting installed on them, (although, the lights were nothing like the kits in use today) back before import and export was a big industry world wide. And today, thanks to the World Wide Web and the fact that import and export is now more commonly practiced throughout the world, they have become more popular then ever before. These car light accessories, which can mount to the body around the perimeter of the vehicle's undercarriage or inside the car, come in kits that contain the elements you'll need for the installation. The "how to install" instructions that should come with your kit are fairly straight forward, but since it requires drilling into the body of the vehicle and substantial electrical work (depending on the type of kit you buy), it's best left to the more experienced do-it-yourselfers. If this project seems a little too hard for you, rest assured that there are a growing number of custom shops that perform this type of neon car lighting installation. If you do decide to take on the installation yourself, be sure to purchase a kit that is compatible with your vehicle, and read and follow the instructions that come with the kit carefully. The highest quality Neon Car kits on the market today are made by big brand name makers such as PlasmaGlow, StreetGlow and LiteGlow, just to name a few. Dealers selling these Brands will have exactly what you need for any competition or street vehicle. Most of the under car kits (and interior car lights) come in many colors and sizes, they include a Transformer, generally two 50" tubes, two 38" tubes, installation instructions and all necessary mounting hardware to complete the job. The exterior type tubes are commonly made of a durable Lexan® type plastic that protect the neon elements inside the tube with unsurpassed durability! Please keep in mind that the main issues we face with having LED or Neon Car Lights on our vehicles these days is the fact that they are often frowned upon by the authorities. So to avoid any uninvited fines, its best to install neon lights so as they can be activated through a separate switch rather than having them come on when the headlights are turned on. To do this, you can run a power wire directly from the car battery to the kits operating switch, thus by-passing the vehicles headlight wires. And of course, it's always good to check with your State Road Laws in regards to having neon or LED car lights on your Vehicle. So if you been searching for the ultimate custom add on for your ride and don't mind the attention from curious onlookers, and the fact that the glowing effects tickles your fancy, then you might consider neon car lights to spoose up your ride. Imagine the fun you could have with neon car lights?Antonio Gabellone is the Owner/Author of All-Neon-Car-Lights.com - The Site is a great resource aimed at Neon Car Lights from PlasmaGlow with "life-time Warranties". How to Buy and Export a Used Car from Japan

Author : Keith Taynton
Japan has been a rich source of used cars for many years and each day thousands of people buy a used car direct from Japanese car auctions. The benefits are many:Good quality, reliable, economical and famous Japanese brands such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi.Low milage. Most cars come with less than 100,000 kilometers on the clockGood condition. Regular servicing and repairs due to strict Japanese Government safety checks. Many options. Many owners choose several options, so your car will come feature packed.Cheap! Cars can start at auction for 1 yen, although you'll probably pay a little more than that! And more...
In this article I'll cover the following points to help you understand the Japanese used car market and make a more informed choice about buying a car for export to your country.

Japanese used car dealers
The buying and importing process
Japanese used car dealersThe process of buying and importing a used car has become much easier with the advent of the internet. There are thousands of dealers throughout Japan and around the world who have websites offering cars they have in stock, or offering a custom car search service where they take your specifications and search the auctions until they find a car to match your exact needs. There is a wide variety of export car dealers. Some dealers are huge organisations dealing with large volumes of cars while others are single entrepreneurs who run their own businesses. Of course the larger a company the bigger the overheads and so probably you'll end up paying slightly more in dealer fees, but you get more security from dealing with an established business. The choice between price and reliability is yours. The Japanese Government recognised JUMVEA (Japanese Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Assosciation) maintains a member list of companies which "was created to address this problem [of poor quality cars and dealers], being composed of used car exporters of excellent credentials and high credibility" JUMVEA website.Their aim is to give membership to those companies which show their reliability and service over time, so if you are particularly worried about trust then look for a company with this accreditation. You can check the list of members on the JUMVEA website, and accredited members will proudly display their membership on their website. However not many companies have JUMVEA membership so before buying from a non member do the following checks:See if the exporters bank details are listed on the websiteCall the company at least once to ask about any questions you may have. Bona fide companies will have no problems with talking to you over the phone, although be patient with their English abilty!Ask for testimonialsCheck the quality of response to your enquiries. If the dealer is obscuring or dodging an issue then move on
In general use your common sense and if something is suspicious or dosent feel right then don't proceed and find another dealer. The buying and importing processCheck your country's lawBefore importing check your country's rules for importing used cars to make sure you are allowed to import the car you want. Most countries have liberal laws and are mostly concerned with emissions and safety standards. However these can add extra to the cost of importing so make sure you research the compatibility of the model you want with laws in your own country. If you choose a car which is way outside the limits then you could be spending a large amount to make it conform.Check with the dealer and your local department of motor vehicles if in doubt. You don't want to be left on the docks with a bill for several thousand to make the car conform before you can take it home!Sending the requestIf the dealer has a stock of cars you can request on shown on their website in which case you will know the price and details of the car. However if you are looking for something specific then you will have to send the dealer an email describing what you want. Most dealers have some sort of request form on their website.ConfirmationIf you are buying from stock then you will usually get a faster confirmation of purchase. If you request something else then the dealer will have to search for what you requested at an auction and send you details of prices and specifications. It is then up to you to confirm or ask for a different model etc.PaymentOnce you have decided on a car and price you will be required to pay for it. Methods and amounts vary by dealer. Some dealers require you pay 100% upfront with by bank transfer (or telegraphic transfer T.T.) before the car is bought at auction or readied for shipping. Others require a less amount as a deposit and then a balance on completion of purchase at auction or when the car is ready for shipping. You may feel nervous sending money to a foreign country and unknown company so you should be sure of the dealers trustworthiness before you enter into a contract or send any money. You can do this by checking to see if the dealer displays a company registration number and address on their website, then ask the Japanese embassy in your country for confirmation - although this may take a long time and cost you extra. You can also check the bank account. Japanese banking laws are strict when it comes to monetary movements and bank accounts. All registered businesses are required to have their accounts under exactly the same name that they registered their company. If you are buying a used car online from Japan and the name on the bank account is different from the name of the trading company, or if its an individual, then you should investigate more.DeliveryDelivery times will vary according to distance and number of ships to your country. Here is a rough guideline.
Russia and Hong Kong: three days
New Zealand and Australia: three weeks
Rest of world: between four to six weeks
There may be other times to include in the delivery period such as a deregisteration certificate for the Japanese owner which shows the car has been sold by him, and finding a space on a boat to your port. These extra processes can take up another four to six weeks.ArrivalYour car has arrived at your port and now you have to pick it up. Take the documentation which the dealer sent you to a shipping agent who will arrange the offloading of the car from the ship.Depending on your country's laws you may have to pay import tax, licence the car, get car safety tests done, and insure the car.Now your car is legally imported and in your hands. Drive home carefully!Summary
In conclusion buying and exporting a used Japanese car is fairly straightforward, and can save you a fair bit of money compared to buying a car in your own country. Choosing a reputable firm is probably the biggest priority to ensure a smooth transaction, and you should be aware of any extra costs your government may impose to make the car conform to safety and emission standards. For more information please visit the Japanese used car exporter portal. The Hidden Costs of Car Leases

Author : Amy Metz
Be honest- are you one of those people who just loves new cars? I knew it. That's OK, we are in the same boat. I love new cars just as much as you do. But I like not overpaying just as much if not more than you do. That's why, when it comes to car leases, I make sure and really get to know my options and whether I should be leasing or buying my vehicles. As I've learned (the hard way) a few times, there are all sorts of hidden costs involved in leasing a new car. And they aren't what you think they are. Lets look at a few of them.1)The monthly lease payment. Did you know that there are unscrupulous car dealers out there who will blindly rip you off if you let them. That's right. And your monthly payment might have been arbitrarily made up by one of these dealers on the spot just by looking at you and deciding how much money they should charge you. Make sure and question everything on the lease form and ask in depth questions as to why you should be paying what you are. The fine print can be your friend, use it against the car dealer to negotiate a better deal somewhere else.2)Keep an eye on your mileage. This is a biggie. A lot of people get wooed by the idea of a lease and it's low payments. However, these same people are living the high life until the day comes when they have to finally return their vehicle. This is the day of reckoning because they get charge for overage miles. It's not a pretty site and it can seriously damage your bank account. If you lease your car, make sure your mileage doesn't exceed it's limit.3)The lack of equity. When you buy a car, you own it (or the bank owns the note on it). You don't build equity with a car lease. Your car is basically being rented. Compare the equity costs and gains before deciding on a least. There are a ton of other hidden costs involved in car leases that make points #1-3 look small by comparison. Where Does the Gas Go?

Author : James Monahan
We've seen too much misinformation regarding exhaust (read: that pipe that runs under your car which gives off or "exhausts" certain things) theory. What kind of misinformation? For starters, there are a lot of people in the "bigger is better" camp. We're talking about exhaust pipe diameters.Of course you've seen them quasi-race cars with the biggest exhaust systems making the most thundering noises while parking at your lot. For some, this is just way irritating while for others, well, they just have to put up or shut up.So is bigger really better? To understand and to be able to take a side on this great debate, one must know what really happens and what purpose does the exhaust pipe serve.Let's start from the beginning. What is an exhaust system? Silly question? Not hardly. Exhaust systems carry out several important functions. First of which is getting hot, noxious exhaust gasses from your engine. These are placed away from the engine compartment. Basically it's the waste place of the car. It also significantly soothes noise output from the engine. And in the case of modern cars, reduce exhaust emissions. So how the heck does the exhaust system work? Here's a point by point, step by step travel of the exhaust in your car. This will give you an idea on what happens inside your car (just the exhaust side, though)After your air/fuel mixture (or nitrous/fuel mixture) burns, you will obviously have some leftovers consisting of a few unburned hydrocarbons (fuel), carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, phosphorus, and the occasional molecule of a heavy metal, such as lead or molybdenum. These are all in gaseous form, and will be under a lot of pressure as the piston rushes them out of the cylinder and into the exhaust manifold or header It collects the exhaust gases from multiple cylinders into one pipe. They will also be hotter. An exhaust manifold is usually made of cast iron, and its' primary purpose is to funnel several exhaust ports into one, so you don't need four exhaust pipes sticking out the back of your Civic.Exhaust manifolds are usually pretty restrictive to the flow of exhaust gas. So therefore, they waste a lot of power because your pistons have to push on the exhaust gasses pretty hard to get them out.So why does virtually every new automobile sold have exhaust manifolds? Because they are cheap to produce, and easy to install. Real cheap. Real easy. The performance alternative to the exhaust manifold is a header. What's the difference?Where a manifold usually has several holes converging into a common chamber to route all your gases, a header has precisely formed tubes that curve gently to join your exhaust ports to your exhaust pipe. How does this help? First of all, as with any fluid, exhaust gases must be treated gently for maximum horsepower production (that's your engine's power) You don't want to just slam-bang exhaust gas from your engine into the exhaust system.Nextly, exhaust gases exit from your manifold or header, travel through a bit of pipe, then end up in the catalytic converter, or "cat". The cat's main job is to help clean up some of the harmful chemicals from your exhaust gas so they don't end up in your lungs. In most cars, they also do a great job of quieting things down and giving any exhaust system a deeper, mellow tone. From the catalytic converter, the exhaust gasses go through a bit more pipe and then into a muffler, or system consisting of several mufflers and/or resonators.Exhaust gases leave the engine under extremely high pressure. If we allowed exhaust gasses escape to the atmosphere directly from the exhaust port, you can well imagine how loud and cop-attracting the noise would be.For the same reason gunshots are loud, engine exhaust is loud. Sure, it might be cool to drive around on the street with that testosterone producing, chest-thumping, 150 decibel roar coming from your car… for about 5.3 seconds. Even the gentleman's gentleman has got to use a muffler, or system of mufflers, on their exhaust.James Monahan is the owner and Senior Editor of target="_new"

How to Find Discount Parts for Your Volvo

Author : John Mancini
You like driving your Volvo; you like the sense of prestige that it affords you as you speed down the highway. However, just because you own a Volvo does not mean you are made of money, when it comes to replacement parts, you want value. You should consider ways to get discount Volvo parts.A more hands on way to find the discounted parts that you need is by going to auctions. An auction, specifically a car auction, is a great way to find the parts you are looking for as well as a great way to get them for a good price. Another advantage to the auction is that you can physically handle the piece and talk to the seller to get an accurate history. The most obvious place is not likely to be a good source of discount parts, but it never hurts to check. The dealership will be able to get you the part you need, even if its at full price, if your other options fail to produce the part you need.Searching the internet can yield excellent results when looking for discount Volvo parts. This is what most websites specialize in, quality parts for less. An added bonus of internet sites is that they can also offer reviews from previous buyers, installation instructions and forums that are filled with other enthusiasts who are more that willing to answer your questions. One of the most reliable places to get genuine Volvo parts at a discounted price is a salvage yard. This might not have been the first thought that came to mind when you discovered that you needed to replace a part. However, salvage yards deal with factory parts that are still working even if the original car is not. Most salvage yards operate on an "as is" basis, but they also depend on their reputation to stay in operation, they test parts before putting them up for sale. This is an excellent option if you are looking for something like a cooling fan or a windshield wiper motor.John Mancini has been writing about volvo parts online and offline for a long time. Choosing a Driving School

Author : Charlotte Alice
There are many types of driving schools that serve different purposes for different goals of students that hold different levels of driving mastery. For many people, their first and only experience of participating in a driving school is the driver education they receive in order to obtain their driver's permit or their first driver's license. Oftentimes these first time drivers opt to take advantage of driving school classes offered by the high school that he or she attends.Though participating in a driving school in order to prepare oneself for department of motor vehicle licensing is not mandatory, many students feel much more thoroughly prepared when obtaining this kind of structured driver education. Additionally, parents can often receive a discount on car insurance policies for their child once he or she has passed a certified driver education course. As with any type of school or learning environment, the main thing to consider when choosing a driving school is which type of classroom environment and teacher would make learning as enjoyable as possible. As everyone knows, the more enjoyable a lesson is the more successful the students will be. If you deal well with raw information, chances are you'll most appreciate a no frills type of teacher and environment. You can read and go over traffic rules on your own and then use the class time to ask questions and compare notes with the other students. If, however, you do better in learning environments that are highly interactive and fun, you may wish to seek out a driving school that offers creative approaches to learning traffic rules. These types of programs often employ educational games and interactive activities to help students familiarize themselves with all of the information and techniques that are involved in learning how to be a safe driver. There are driving schools that offer either driving test preparation or practical driving skills courses, or both. Some driving students prefer to attend driving classes that focus only on the hands-on portions of learning to drive, either because they prefer to study traffic laws by their selves at home, or because they would rather use one of the online driving preparation services for this portion of driver education.Increasingly many student drivers opt to enroll in one of the popular online driver training schools. These can be very helpful because they present traffic laws and procedural information in dynamic and interactive formats. This presentation of information has man advantages beyond just making learning more interesting. An online format allows for easy and efficient cross-referencing of driving terms that can speed student familiarity with the curriculum involved in absorbing all that there is to learn about traffic laws and driving safety. Most of the online driving school websites also offer practice tests that are based off of specific states' actual department of motor vehicle tests. This can be a huge help in preparing a student for the last, and often most intimidating, part of becoming a fully licensed driver. With a little bit of research and stock taking of you or your child's learning needs, you are sure to find the appropriate driving school. For more information and tips about driving schools please visit Driving SchoolCharlotte Alice advices Xsitepro Templates

Finding the Right Mazda Dealer

Author : Christopher Luck
How do I find a Mazda dealer that is reliable and located in my area? We all have our preferences, and mine is Mazda vehicles. So for my next car, I want to visit the best Mazda dealer I can to get what I need. However, I need to figure out what the best way to locate one is. Turns out, there are several things you can do to find a Mazda dealer in your area without just driving around aimlessly.
The first place to start a search is in the yellow pages. If you go to your local yellow pages and open it up to automobiles you will likely find it is a huge section. Generally the dealers are listed in the section based on alphabetical listings by dealership. Mazda dealers will be in the "M" section. If you live in a larger metro area, there will likely be several Mazda dealers, so write down phone numbers and contact information. You can also go to your local yellow pages online and type in a search f "Mazda dealer."
Another way to find a Mazda dealer in your area is to check out the Mazda website. Most car manufacturers list affiliate dealers on their site along with contact information. The good thing about this method is that you can probably browse some of the vehicles on line before heading out to the Mazda dealer. When you have an idea what you are looking for, shopping for almost anything becomes easier.
You can also find a Mazda dealer through word of mouth. As people you know who have a Mazda where they got it. Also, ask them about their experience so that you will know if it a dealer that you would enjoy dealing with.
Finding out which Mazda dealers are reputable and easy to work with is also important. As people you know have worked with them for their opinion of the service, experience, and people who work at that Mazda dealer. The other way to check out the reputation of the dealership is to check out consumer websites online. There are consumer sites that will review the actual Mazda cars, Mazda dealers, or sometimes even specific managers. Radar Detectors - Is It Worth The Risk?

Author : Margarette Tustle
Radar detectors are used by some individuals as protection devices from speeding. Some states find radar detectors illegal, so if you are caught with one, you may be fined, prosecuted, or both. This will be in addition to any speeding ticket you receive. Be reminded that speeding is illegal and dangerous. In fact, speeding may not even be worth it. Police departments and agencies are become more and more equipped with their own speed detection radars that cannot be read by radar detectors. How Do They Work?Radar can be described as electromagnetic or radio waves traveling through the air. As the waves hit an object, they will bounce back to that which transmitted it. It will then be able to detect how far away the object is. The detectors pick up the radio signals sent by the police's radar device, and then alert you that you are being tracked. This gives you ample time to adjust your speed. Radar detectors are the most accurate when your car is not being directly targeted. Radar detectors do not work if the police officer has a radar gun and is driving directly behind you, or if the radar gun is pointed directly at your car from the front. In these situations, radar detectors will not be able to pick up the waves being sent by the police, so the detectors are not efficient.Recent AdvancementsThere are new features you can buy in radar detectors. One feature is called the jamming technique. Jamming the signal is accomplished when the radio signal is picked up by the detector. It will alert you, but also sends back the radio signal to where it came from as a mixed signal. This prevents your speed waves to be read by the police radar gun. Both regular citizens have the option to buy a jamming feature on their detector, but you should know the police have the ability to jam your signal, too.Lidar guns are the radar guns police use to get around the traditional detector. The guns use laser technology, which is extremely accurate. The lidar guns work by sending out laser signals that bounce off the car and return to the game. The gun is able to take several measurements in a matter of seconds then averages the measurements to find out how fast the car is moving. Regular radar detectors don't even know the lidar guns are out there. The guns are harder to detect with the laser detection. Radar detectors will become more and more obsolete as the police turn to lidar guns.Technology will continue to improve, and there will be newer and smarter devices created to thwart the police in their duties to protect the people and keep the highway safe. There will also inevitably be new devices for the police to use in blocking the radars and catching those who speed. Make the wise, safe, and smart choice when it comes to speeding.By Margarette Tustle. Learn more about detectors from factdetector.com

Let Me Introduce You To The Nissan Skyline

Author : Vincent Abrugar
Not commonly found in the United States, the Nissan Skyline is a Japanese sports car with a lot of history. Dating back 45 years, the Nissan Skyline has received many awards and has earned the nickname "Godzilla." While it's far from being the monster machine that it's nickname implies, this Japanese original is larger than life. After an absence in production for 10 years, Nissan announced that it would release a new GT-R Skyline model in 1989. It was set to compete in the Japan Touring Car Group A racing series and lead the field in an undefeated first season. For the next four years, the GT-R Nissan Skyline was awarded the Japan Touring Car Group A championship. In 1994, in honor of it's spectacular achievements, the Nissan Skyline was given it's own series, which was called the Japan GT Car series. For the years ahead, the Nissan Skyline proved to be a dominating force in Japanese racing. Ultimately, there was never a Skyline GT-R made to comply with standards set forth by the United States. However, Motorex imports and modifies the Nissan Skyline GT-R in order to meet requirements so that the cars may be sold in America. The Nissan Skyline automobiles are popular among youngsters, as well. Ok, so maybe they don't have a license to drive, but they can certainly burn some rubber on video games and that's exactly what they are doing. Throughout the years, racing video games have become very popular among kids of all ages - both young and old. The Nissan Skyline has appeared in numerous video games after being recognized for it's speed and sleek sporty design. Along those same lines, the Nissan Skyline has been recognized in many of the biggest motion pictures to feature a racing theme. Clearly, the motto for these cars are outlined in their sleek design and sports car appearance. The Nissan Skyline is an intermediate-size automobile, which is originally manufactured in Japan before being exported to other countries. It is sold as either a coupe or sedan style automobile and has been produced, in various models, since the 1950s. In 2008, the next generation of Nissan Skyline GT-R automobiles may be sold in the United States. Until that time, these luxury style sports cars can be converted to local standards by various manufacturers who agree to sale the automobiles. Only time will tell what the Nissan Skyline has in store but, with its rich racing history, you can bet they will race out of stock.Vincent Abrugar is the online publisher of http://www.nissaninfo.com a website about nissan skyline.

The "Family" Business - The Godfather's Business or the Automotive Repair Shop?

Author : Frank Bellucci
When somebody mentions "the Family Business" I think of a well dressed, old and skinny Italian man with a scratchy voice and has a name like Tony or Sammy. My Grandfather, who I've mentioned in some of my other articles, definitely fits the bill. With just one glass of a good Chianti wine, you might find him in our garden patio, rocking back and forth, singing Italian love songs for hours. He was indeed a short, skinny guy, who talked in a voice very similar to the Godfather and at the age of 80 he still had a full head of gray hair. Give him a mandolin and it was almost like being in an old Italian movie.

Well let me get back to what "Family" means to me in a Family Business (beyond that old Italian theme). It doesn't matter whether it's an automotive service business, like Sandy and I operate, or a cleaning business, a landscaping business, or even a street sweeping business. You see, when Grandpa owned businesses in his younger days, it was his name, his word, and his values that he was offering. He wasn't fixing transmissions, brakes, or air conditioning like we do. Grandpa was painting murals on grocery store windows. But like us, he knew if he didn't deliver good quality work for his customers, his name would be ruined and he might have a hard time finding work - especially in a tight nit New England town. That's why I like working with businesses here in Austin that are family owned. Businesses that are family owned are much more likely to stand behind what they do because they're offering far more than a product, their offering the meaning of their word and their reputation.

In the automotive business, a family owned business is more than just an automotive repair facility. A family owner, and his hand picked team, can be "trusted" advisors of what you "don't" need to do as well as what you might want to do now to avoid bigger problems down the road. They'll get to know you and your car so they remember what was worked on last time and how the problems you may have experienced before fit with what's happening now (or not). It doesn't matter whether you're fixing transmissions, brakes, or air conditioning, or your fixing a dishwasher. Family owners tend to care and so many are so very trustworthy.

Family owned automotive repair is much like a family doctor and his trusted nurse practitioner and small administrative staff. In a big hospital conglomerate where Dr's might be overworked and see you once or twice in an emergency room, they aren't going to care about you as much as Dr. Mulligan who will be with you for years as your family doctor and knows you and your family's names and watched your kids grow. In addition, although the hospital doctor might ask you a few questions about what happened to you in the past, he's really not going to put it together the same as Dr. Mulligan who was there treating your family's health issues with you.

I guess that kind of sums it up for how I feel about family businesses. Many small businesses are indeed family businesses, so when you hear somebody say they are a small business, you may very well be hearing somebody offering the luxury of a family business. More than likely, it will be a business from which you'll enjoy years of great service.Frank Bellucci is the President of Performance Motors in Austin, Texas. In addition, he likes to think of himself as a rather funny person. His wife doesn't agree. But that's OK. Frank seems to have limitless funny experiences with cars, one of his great passions in life. You can catch Frank driving down 183 in Austin in his Land Rover. He loves his Rover more than wine. Automotive Seat Covers - What Are The Benefits?

Author : Andrew Bernhardt
One of the great on-the-road ironies is that while you're sitting comfortably in your car seat, the seat itself is having to stand up to a tremendous amount of abuse. Dirty clothes, wet swimsuits, spilt drinks, kids snacking in the backseat, slobbering pets, seat friction and harsh sunlight all have the potential to ruin and wear out your great looking seats. And if something terrible has befallen your interior, a complete reupholster will cost you dearly. The days of worrying about permanently staining your car seats or of being embarrassed by ripped, tattered and unkempt upholstery are close to being over. With the right set of seat covers, you'll be able to:• Proactively protect your upholstery from a dizzying array of hazards• Cover over existing damage rather than having to reupholster your seats• Make over your interior to suit your tastes and lifestyleSeat Cover Proactive Protection ReferenceThere are certain "high-traffic" areas in your vehicle that seem predestined to receive a lot of punishing use. Your carpets are constantly being trampled by dirty shoes, your steering wheel is being throttled non-stop by oily hands and your seats are always besieged by a steady onslaught of abuses. While the only surefire way to safeguard your seats is to stop driving your vehicle, that solution just isn't practical. Dressing your seats with a pair of form-fitting, protective seat covers is just as good, and this solution won't force you into riding public transportation either.Your car seats face a number of perils, including:MoistureWhether you're driving home from an outing at the local pool, a kayaking trip or an endless summer's day of surfing, the moisture in your clothing can lead to serious problems for your upholstery. Moisture is especially problematic for residents of the drizzly Pacific Northwest and other wet zones. Leather's worst enemy is water. When it gets wet, it becomes tacky to the touch - a sign that the leather's natural oils are being washed out. Cloth seating is also prone to damage from moisture. When water seeps into factory-installed fabrics, it can fester and grow into ugly, stinky, disgusting mold. Never fear; our seat covers come in a wide selection of materials with varying degrees of water resistance to protect your interior.Spills and GrimeNo one plans on fumbling a 40 ounce beverage right into their lap while barreling down the freeway, but it happens. As drinks keep getting larger and larger, the potential damage keeps growing and growing. Besides sticky sodas and scalding coffees, on-the-go meals are a car seat's worst nightmare. That overstuffed burrito hanging out of your jaws is like a Sword of Damocles, looming disastrously over your upholstery and threatening a permanent stain with every succulent chomp. Not to mention soiled clothing, tracked-in mud and salty back sweat. Luckily, a snug set of seat covers will bear the brunt of any spillage and grime you can toss at it.Kids and PetsNothing's quite as adorable as the mesmerized look of a toddler who's discovering the sweet, luscious delights of his or her first birthday cake. At the same time, that image of a child's tiny digits grabbing chunks of chocolate cake by the fist-full and smearing it over every square inch of their upper body should remind us that kids are just as messy as they are cute. And, while you can easily mop away accidents in your kitchen, it becomes a huge hassle when it happens in your back seat. The same goes for your furry, four-legged co-pilot. Not only does slobber leave white-bordered saliva stains, hair clings to everything and is a nightmare to remove. Plus, their sharp little talons can rip, tear and gouge your upholstery, especially leather. However, the right set of seat covers will shield your seats from the messes that children and pets inevitably create.FrictionWhile getting in and out of your vehicle may seem like a harmless operation, it is, in fact, putting a lot of stress on your seats. Like sandpaper on a jagged block of wood, the texture of your clothing grates against the texture of the upholstery (leather and cloth alike). This constant friction between your body and your seat steadily grinds away at your upholstery. As time passes, the strength of the leather or fabric starts to wane, and it will eventually start becoming threadbare, torn and split. Of course, this pitiful fate can easily be avoided with a quality set of seat covers.UV DamageJust because every form of life on Earth is dependent on the sun for its existence doesn't mean that solar rays aren't a mixed blessing. Too much sun exposure is not healthy for our skin, and it certainly is harmful to our upholstery. Leather is especially susceptible to sun damage because UV radiation dries out the natural oils in the leather. Without these oils keeping things moist, the leather will eventually start to crack. Cloth upholstery is also in danger. Direct sunlight on your fabrics has a bleaching effect. Where once your seats were dark blue or black, an overdose of ultra violet radiation will leave your seats looking purple or ashen. Since you can't always park in the shade, you can give yourself year-round protection with a snazzy set of seat covers.A Guide to Covering Your Damaged SeatsSometimes bad things happen to good upholstery. If the interior of your vehicle has suffered some cruel twist of fate (a leaky pen left lying in the backseat, or a torn seam that's threatening to unravel completely), you have the ability to rejuvenate your vehicle's seats without having to go through the hassle of a complete reupholster job. Instead of calling up your dealer and shelling out an arm and a leg for new seats, you can simply slide a new set of seat covers directly over the old ones. No muss, no fuss-just great looking seat covers that fit like a glove. There are three different types seat covers, a custom fit, semi-custom fit and universal fit. Let's take a closer look at the benefits you get with each style.Custom Fit Seat CoversJust as an Armani suit is properly measured, cut and stitched to fit the unique shapes and contours of the wearer, so too is a custom fit seat cover meticulously designed for a precise fit over your seats. No part of your particular vehicle's seat is forgotten or overlooked - not the position of the head rest, nor the location of the seat's ergonomic controls, nor even where your seatbelts are mounted. Everything is taken into consideration, and these made-to-measure seat covers will fit like they were factory-installed. Moreover, custom fit seat covers will not obstruct your seat's side-impact airbags, so you'll be just as secure as before, only with better looking and better protected upholstery.Semi-Custom Fit Seat CoversWhile a tailor-made suit fits your body to a T, off-the-rack clothing still looks and feels great, and you usually have enough left over for a matching shirt and tie. Semi-custom fit seat covers are the economical alternative to the tailored suit. They are stitched together following patterns that will work with your vehicle's seats as well as with similarly sized seats in other cars, trucks and SUVs. Except for the 3 Star Semi-Custom Sheepskin Seat Cover, semi-custom fit seat covers do not leave access to lumbar controls, and they should not be used if you have side-impact airbags on your vehicle. Nevertheless, they deliver fantastic protection against the whole gamut of seating hazards.Universal Seat CoversLike the name implies, universal seat covers fit any high-back and low-back bucket seat, regardless of your year, make or model. Rather than being used as long-term coverings, our universal seat covers are a perfect companion in your vehicle for when life gets a little messy. They install in seconds, so you can slip them on when you need them and store them away in your trunk when you don't. Like the semi-custom seat covers, the universal seat covers should not be used on seats with side-impact airbags.Tips On Making Over Your InteriorYour vehicle is more than just a means of transportation - it is an extension of your identity, your personality and your uniqueness. You want your vehicle to mirror yourself, and the right set of seat covers is an excellent way to personalize your interior. And, with all the different colors, patterns and materials at your disposal, you have an almost limitless array of ways to customize your car seats. With every vehicle and every lifestyle kept in mind, Andrew Bernhardt hopes that this information will help you find the right seat cover to protect your seats.
